Organise an Archaeological Excavation at Your School

WORKSHOP CONTENT

  • Pre dig assessment of site suitability

  • Pre workshop preparation of site for excavation

  • 1 x Archaeology Facilitator

  • 1 x Archaeologist Guest

  • Full Risk Assessment

  • ‘Introduction to Archaeology’ (with bespoke Power Point presentation and Stone Age, Romans or Vikings element to support your school’s curriculum)

  • Excavation at your school (or another suitable site) including all specialist materials and tools

  • Excavation site made good after session

  • Class-based analysis of finds and completion of ‘Artefact Record’ booklet

  • Artefact handling

  • Option of creating coil or pinch pots inspired by ceramic artefacts, or geometric mosaic tiles inspired by Roman tesserae

  • Option of bespoke Display Poster/s and Artefacts prepared, identified, and returned to school for school to keep.

Making Roman Mosaics:
Create geometric patterned tile inspired by Roman tesserae

WORKSHOP CONTENT

  • 1 x Facilitator

  • Full Risk Assessment

  • ‘Introduction to Roman mosaics’ (with bespoke Power Point presentation)

  • Step by step instruction in person, supported by Power Point presentation, to create a mosaic roman tile exploring geometry, symmetry and lines of symmetry

  • 30 wooden tile ‘blanks’

  • Class based ‘Making Roman Mosaics: Process’ Booklet

  • Enough mosaic tiles for a class of 30, organised by colour

  • Coloured pencils to match mosaic tiles to aid design process

  • PVA glue, spreading tools, sponges and grout

  • Tiles can be exhibited together or sent home

Create a whole class display exploring the design process behind The Tudor Rose

WORKSHOP CONTENT

  • 1 x Artist Facilitator

  • Full Risk Assessment

  • ‘Introduction to The Tudor Rose: A Visual Symbol of Two Houses United’ (with bespoke Power Point presentation)

  • Step by step instruction in person, supported by Power Point presentation, to create a Tudor Rose in relief, exploring geometry, symmetry and lines of symmetry

  • Up to 1000 prepared paper cut outs in appropriate colours

  • Tudor Roses can be exhibited together or sent home (see gallery for display ideas)

  • All materials provided and included in cost
